In 2 weeks, Hindi version of Baahubali 2 beats lifetime earnings of Dangal

'Bahubali 2 likely to rake in nearly Rs 1,000 crore

In just 14 days since its release, the Hindi dubbed version of filmmaker SS Rajamouli magnum opus 'Baahubali 2: The Conclusion' has crossed the domestic lifetime collection of Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan's sports drama film 'Dangal'.

Filmmaker Karan Johar, who has presented the Hindi version of 'Baahubali 2: The Conclusion', on Friday shared on Twitter that the film has minted Rs 390.25 crore, surpassing the lifetime business of 'Dangal', which collected Rs 387.38 crore domestically. 'Dangal' had earlier this year became Bollywood's highest grosser in the country.

Alongside an image revealing the Hindi collection of the film in India, Karan tweeted: "The reigning film. 'Baahubali 2: The Conclusion'."

The film, featuring Prabhas, Anushka Shetty, Rana Daggubati and Tamannaah in the lead, released in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam in over 6,500 screens across India, and in 9,000 plus screens worldwide.

The Hindi version of 'Baahubali 2: The Conclusion' has now become the highest grossing film in Bollywood and is eyeing the Rs 400 crore club, said trade expert Taran Adarsh.

"Baahubali 2: The Conclusion is a one-horse race. Collects Rs 390.25 crore in two weeks... All set to start a new club for Hindi films: Rs 400 crore club," Adarsh posted on Twitter on Friday.

The worldwide box office collection of "Baahubali 2: The Conclusion" has already surpassed the Rs 1,000 crore mark. This is the first time that an Indian film has managed to rake in that much money.

'Baahubali: The Beginning' gets the widest re-release ever

Since the time of its inception, the 'Bahubali' franchise has been breaking numerous records.

And now the first instalment, 'Bahubali: The Beginning' has broken yet another record.

With more than 900 screens allotted only to its Hindi version, S S Rajamouli's magnum opus is all set gets the widest re-release ever.

Confirming the scale of the re-release, trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted on Thursday, "The *Hindi version* of #Baahubali [first part] is being re-released in 900 screens in India tomorrow... Screen count could increase."

Sharing details on the release of 'Baahubali: The Beginning,' Karan Johar had said, "When a movie continues to be topical for two years, you know people are loving every bit of it! Both, exhibitors and film lovers, have approached us to make Baahubali a binge-watching experience."

"Hence, we are re-releasing the first part on April 7th with a special offer that takes care of tickets for both parts. We're excited. April will witness the biggest movie event ever!" he added.

'Bahubali: The Beginning' emerged to be an underdog in 2014 and with the film re-releasing on such a huge scale, it is only expected that the franchise will break many further records.

With this, the first part is all set to hit the silver screens again, two weeks prior to the release of the much awaited concluding instalment.

'Bahubali: The Conclusion' has been in the news for having the audience at a heightened level of anticipation post its trailer launch.

Produced by ARKA entertainment and directed by S.S Rajamouli, the movie stars Prabhas in the titular role in addition to Rana Daggubati, Tamannaah Bhatia, Anushka Shetty and Satyaraj in pivotal roles.
