HFCL hits fresh 52-week high after exit from CDR mechanism

HFCL exit from the CDR mechanism; stock hits 9-year high

Himachal Futuristic Communications (HFCL) hit an over nine-year high of Rs 30.10, up 8% on the National Stock Exchange (NSE) in intra-day trade, after the company said it was no longer under the Corporate Debt Restructuring (CDR) mechanism. The stock was trading at its highest level since February, 2008.

“Since the Company has completed all the formalities related to exit from CDR mechanism, the CDR Cell vide its letter no. BY CDR (DAP) No. 2018/2017-18 dated 1st September, 2017 which was received by us on 12th September, 2017, has informed the Company about successful exit of the Company from the CDR mechanism,” HFCL, the company engaged in telecom cables business said in a BSE filing on Wednesday after market hours.


“The successful exits of the account of HFCL from CDR mechanism stands approved on receipt on confirmation from IDBI Bank, the Monitoring Institution (MI) that the directions stipulated in CDR-EG held on February 22, 2016 have been compiled with,” Corporate Debt Restructuring Cell in its decision.

Wipro turns ex-date for share buyback; stock down 5% intra-day

Wipro dipped 5% to Rs 282 on BSE in intra-day trade after the stock turned ex-date for the proposed buyback.

Wipro on September 1, 2017 informed the stock exchanges that the Company has fixed September 15, 2017 as the record date for the purpose of determining the entitlement and the names of equity shareholders who are eligible to participate in the buyback.

On July 20, 2017, the board of directors of information technology (IT) Company had approved a buyback proposal, for purchase by the company of up to 343.75 million equity shares of Rs 2 each at price of Rs 320 per share from the shareholders of the company on a proportionate basis by way of a tender offer.

Since then, Wipro had outperformed the market by surging 10% as compared to 1% rise in S&P BSE Sensex and 2% decline in the S&P BSE IT index till Wednesday.

At 10:20 AM; the stock was trading 4% lower at Rs 284, against 0.29% rise in Sensex and 0.19% gain in IT index.

Vodafone India launches unlimited international plan for Rs 180 per day

Vodafone India on Wednesday launched unlimited international plan across the UK and Europe for Rs 180 per day, the company said here.

International travellers can now easily activate a pack and use their number overseas from the UK and other popular travel destinations of Europe like Germany, Spain, Italy, the Netherlands, Turkey, Greece, Portugal, Czech Republic, Romania and Hungary.

The company statement said apart from Europe, travellers can also use unlimited calling and data in the US, the UAE, Singapore and Malaysia with the same pack, taking the total tally of "unlimited" countries to 18.

The pack is available at multiple affordable price points ranging from Rs 5,000 for 28 days to Rs 500 for every 24 hours usage.

Apart from offering unlimited usage in 18 countries, the same pack also allows consumers to use their phones freely across 42 other countries.

"We launched our flagship unlimited international roaming proposition for the US, Singapore and the UAE in April and are now very excited to extend it to these additional destinations. Europe, the US, the UAE, Singapore and Malaysia comprise more than 50 per cent of our total roamers and international traffic. With calls and data becoming completely free in these countries, we are eliminating the hassle of carrying local SIM cards or looking out for public WiFi during overseas travel," said Avneesh Khosla, Associate Director - Consumer Business, Vodafone India.

Now, Google lets you translate English street signs to 7 Indian languages

In an effort to bring down language barriers, Google on Wednesday announced several updates to its Translate App. Starting on Wednesday, users in Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Marathi, Tamil, Telugu, and Urdu can experience offline translations and instant visual translation in their preferred language.

Google Translate has also added support for conversation mode in regional languages including Bengali and Tamil.

Conversation mode is a feature that lets users have a bilingual conversation with someone, simply by talking to the Google Translate app. To activate, simply tap the mic to start speaking in a selected language, then tap the mic again, and the Google Translate app will automatically recognize which of the two languages are being spoken, letting you have a fluid conversation.

With Google Translate, users can easily turn their phone into a powerful translation tool, whether for studies, business, travel or work. Offline support enables Indian language users to translate a word or sentence even when they are not connected to the internet.
