Sri Lanka declares Emergency: Why hardliner Buddhists are targeting Muslims

Sri Lankan President Maithripala Sirisena on Tuesday decided to claim a ten-day country of Emergency to rein inside the unfold of communal violence, a day after Buddhists and Muslims clashed in the district of Kandy, which resulted inside the dying of two people and left numerous mosques and homes broken.

The violence became caused through the death of a Sinhalese man on the fingers of a mob closing week. The government sent troops and elite police commandos to Kandy to restore order and put into effect the curfew.
